I Was Here by Gayle Forman Review

Image
I made this review for my Goodreads account, but I think the sight of composing view of my blog is making me to add some more about it. So, here it is, my amateur review of I Was Here book from Gayle Forman. As usual, a honest review from the sassy side of me. The cover speaks about the inside of this book. It's not pretty, in my opinion. I never leave a book, whether it is good or bad. Yeah, I mean the worst one. And I send this book a deep condolence of being considered as the latter one. And I have a LOT of reasons for that. So, I just needed to finish this book, as soon as I reached the chapter 3. I already had a gut feeling that this story would end terribly and just inevitably disappointing.  Did you know what? I think some stories about suicide on Wattpad are even worth reading than this one. You know why, it is because the relationship between Cody and Meg. Meg is a keeper, we all know that and it is just easy to see from the description made by Cody. Then wh

All the Bright Places A Few Pages in the Beginning Review

Look what's come to mail yesterday! All the Bright Places from UK Penguin Books Publishing So I ordered some of 'orders' for my Bookish Bookstore customers. I have like 3 orders of this book! I also added one as my collection! So yesterday I held 4 books of All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. And this post is meant to be an early review from a few pages of it that I've been reading on... And I honestly understand about the downside of YA books. Sometimes it is like reading some novels written by Wattpad infamous authors. That kind of feeling, you know, when you really don't get where this story would lead you to. But one thing I have got from these earlier pages is this book talks about suicide and the bereavement-kind-of-feeling. Deprivation feeling of losing someone who is still really important to you even she has already gone. I know exactly that kind of feeling. It also talks about suicide which is so common across South East Asia nations. But I th

A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed

He that is thy friend indeed, He will help thee in thy need: If thou sorrow, he will weep; If thou wake, he cannot sleep: Thus of every grief in heart He with thee doth bear a part. These are certain signs to know Faithful friend from flattering foe. ―  William Shakespeare ,  The Passionate Pilgrim I never have any interest to play with some people who are not underdogs. I did not mean for being rude by using underdog, but at some points I realize I cannot get along well with famous people. You know what I mean, like Mean Girls movie. three prettiest girls at school and an average girl who is far from it. But mostly, they love me for joining them, but this heart cannot tell lies. It mostly says 'no, you don't belong in this group' or 'no, they bring you bad influences'. The latter one happens all the time. I also don't intend to say I have some friends that I have been chatting with, but maybe because I have been there for some people (who mostly prete

I grow up loving physical books. Ever since I was a little kid, I've been collecting comics and magazines. But when I started the first year of freshman as Middle student, I was very fond of reading novels. Indonesian mostly. I read Goosebumps and X-Files novels most of the time since my older brother has some of it. And when I went to HS, I started reading Indonesian romance novels like the ones written by Sitta Karina. She is one of favorite authors for best romance novels. Then my liking moved to Dewi Lestari. In high school too I started growing fondness towards imported books. You know, you have this kind of pride when having one or some. The very first English novel I read was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. But my lil bro ruined it like he was a shredder machine. It's gone to the trash bin.  As for now, I consider books as the best companions. I befriend them better than I do towards humans. This is why I willingly spend a lot of money for imported books.

Me and cousins and siblings as well spent time together at the park and played boomerang. I am so looking for this time. We have free time. We spend time together. We went to music studio to have jam session. Looking forward to spending time with them next weekend! lil brother is not little anymore I pity people who are distant with their family. I mean, who else would accept us as we are but our family? You become cocky, stubborn, full of pride and less kindness... only family would willingly accept that side of you. Be grateful.

Writing Heals

Yeah, I always check and reread each one of my posts here. When I found some contained with negativity, I would delete it. Why should I? Because I know I was healed right after I published those writings. And when I reread them, I don't have that kind of negativity clinging onto my soul anymore. So, yeah... I was healed all thanks to writing. But no, I don't have any intention to read one (anymore). Energy is contagious, so better I avoid the bad one, instead of keeping my curiosity and in the end, read it. Curiosity killed a cat, you know?

The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling: REVIEW

Image
Behold cause it may contain spoiler. And don't be happy, cause this book doesn't have any connection with Harry Potter series. And that is probably the good news. New side of J.K. Rowling that we're able to see! *standing applause* This book has so many plot twists, which I love! And I finally get to finish this book right after reading I Was Here by Gayle Forman which I rated with one star. The feeling is indescribable because The Casual Vacancy offers you a lot of characters with each one of their backgrounds becoming the root of the conflicts.  It is indeed, a big novel about people living in a small town, called Pagford. It is the city in West with some families whose behaviors become the main idea of this story.  I understand the pride that English men possess, like since Victorian era, where girls were prohibited in doing affairs and stuff, it apparently still becomes such issue in this book. Clean heir, as well as name/title is the main idea of this b
