Macbeth
After reading Macbeth story from the masterpiece of drama in Elizabeth period, William Shakespeare, I honestly can say that women can be as poisonous as venom for men's lives. You can see how cruel Lady Macbeth in polluting Macbeth's mind which used to be as plain as milk of human kindness. Macbeth was a nice man until he met the three witches and got good prophecies about his future. He would be the Thane of Cawdor and also be the King of Scotland, the prophecies said. He was in despair at that time whether to throw away the plan that Lady Macbeth told him or regret it because he misses the chance to get the throne. After all, in the end both Macbeth and his lady were dead and the order of the throne for Scotland is restored. Since it is a tragic story, which Shakespeare made this story in his second period when it was called as his depressed time ever, so do not expect it will end in happy-ending. But we can learn something in between. There must be something that we can learn, that is; women can be as poisonous as venom. Well, is it true? I guess it is us who can say whether it is true or not. We decide, we act.
Using her evil thoughts, she comes with a plan to kill King Duncan so the throne will fall to her husband |
She planned to make the guards drunk and then her husband can kill the King using his dagger. After that she killed the guards as well. Her acts surely gave Macbeth inspiration to be not he used to be; a cold-blooded killer. Things wouldn't last forever in this world. Before he could taste his throne, he met his best friend Banquo and felt worried all of sudden because of the prophecy which tells him that Banquo would be the future of Scotland but still lesser than to be a King. The nature comes unhinged, Macbeth killed him when Banquo had a trip using horses with his son, Fleance. Banquo was dead easily, but leaving the Fleance escaped. Right after the killers came in front of Macbeth to report the plan of killing Banquo, he saw Banquo's ghost. He was hallucinating in front of the guests who were celebrating the feast in his castle.
After that he met the three witches again and got three more prophecies right away. The prophecies were; he would meet a long-time friend who came back to town and would be a threat to him in ruling the country, a son wearing crown and holding the tree branches, and the last about Birnam woods to the Dunsinane hills. A Scotland general, Macduff, who is a friend of Macbeth too, came back to Scotland and found out the serial murderer in the castle.
Meanwhile, Lady Macbeth felt what she did was wrong. She started going crazy by sleeping while walking and talking. When a doctor helped her, she was muttering herself about what she had done with her husband. The doctor realized it but remained silent fearing the consequences if he spoke up.
Macbeth killed all of Macduff's family right before Macduff touched down his home. When he knew about his family got murdered by Macbeth, he planned to avenge. After all of cruel things happened in castle, he assumed that it was Macbeth, the person behind the bloody incident which happened to the King. With the help of another general, Lennox and also Malcolm who used to stay in England after his father's death, Macduff tried to reveal the truth. Fortunately, Malcolm got the England troops which was making it easier to avenge.
Lady Macbeth killed herself and when Macbeth knew this, he immediately thought that it was the three witches who had ruined his life. So when his troops and Malcolm's troops had a battle, leaving it Macduff and Macbeth only. Macduff killed Macbeth easily. After that he joined Malcolm and his troops who won the battle bringing Macbeth's head. The order of Scotland's throne was restored, that it was Malcolm who became the King of Scotland after his own father, King Duncan.
