Start from placing the furniture on a drop cloth, newspaper or cardboard. By using a screwdriver, you need to remove all hardware from the piece of furniture including any knobs, drawer pulls, hinges and decorative emblems. Remember to remove all drawers and doors and place them separately on the drop cloth.

Second, you can use sandpaper or an electric sander and then sand the surface of each piece of the furniture. But make sure you sand in the same direction as the wood grain in order to avoid creating scratches. You can also use a tack cloth to remove the dust from the surface. Note that you should check each piece to see if it must be sanded again. 

Then you can use a paint brush, apply a coat of white primer to the furniture by following the grain of the wood, and apply the white semi-gloss latex paint to the surface with a paint brush. After that, you need to paint in the same direction of the wood grain. When this has dried, you should check to see if all pieces are adequately covered with paint. You can find usually only one coat of paint is required if primer was applied.
